Two more leagues at Orchard Lanes just completed their first round so there are a bunch of smiling winners who deserve to get a
few more seconds of those famous fifteen minutes of fame.
Rails End Café served up their Monday night special to take the first round of the Industrial league. Bowling for the famous
Parkdale eatery are new daddy Jason Worsham, barbecued pork specialist Mike Bosse, smooth Ken Espersen, Wyn Winfield and
our favorite emerging star player in the bowling scene, Jeremy Bloom. Winning a round makes this team one of the top seeds in the
super fun NCAA basketball like tournament championship that the Industrial league uses to determine its champion at the end of the
season.
It seems like a broken record but congratulations are also in order one more time to the Hood River G olf team for winning the first
round of the Wednesday night Fraternal league. Bowling for the “golf” boys are the legendary “keep ‘em low” orchardist to the
stars, Jeff Hasegawa, Ron (main man) Ward, Rick (the Dish) Nishimoto, Jeremy (Rail’s End) Bloom, Stuart (Butch Harmon, jr)
Kawachi and his better half, the stunning Janet Kawachi. Without question their efforts were boosted by the presence of the team’s
new acquisition, Janet Kawachi, who has improved the looks of this league by at least 1000 %. This is history in the making
because this is the first year ever that women have been able to join the Fraternal league and now they are poised to win the whole
thing. The rest of you women out there, take note, you can do it too. The Fraternal league is regarded as the most competitive
league in town where most of the area’s best bowlers toil for fame and glory. Want a little more competition, give it a try, the door
is open. As a result of winning the league’s first round, this celebrated crew has now qualified for the league championship roll off
which is conducted at the end of the season between the three round winners and a wild card team that has won the most points
during the year without winning a round. This, of course, is old hat for this stellar team as they seem to win the league championship
just about every year. But, then, winning never gets old.
